Airstream Interstate Class B Motorhomes Get Array Of Updates For 2023
Airstream recently unveiled updates to its Interstate line of Class B motorhomes for the 2023 model year. Airstream offers four Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van-based Interstate models, the 24X, 24GT, 24GL, and the 19, all of which are receiving upgrades for the new model year.
Interstate 24X Updates
The 24-foot RV seats up to six with sleeping space for two. The 188-horsepower (140-kilowatt) engine provides the power to tow up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms). The 24X has a new screen door system for the side entry, which is now two pieces with a horizontally sliding screen that covers the doorway and vertically sliding screen over the galley for improved airflow and versatility. The liquid propane tank is now larger, moving from a 9.8-gallon (37-liter) tank to a 14.6-gal (55-L) tank like the ones in the Interstate 24GL and Interstate 24GT. The 24X is also fitted with new matte black aluminum wheels built for greater loads and easier maintenance.
Interstate 24GT & 24GL Updates
The 24GL seats up to nine people with sleeping space for two. The 24GT seats up to seven with sleeping space for two. The powered convertible bed has been redesigned to extend the bedding area. The new multipurpose table located behind the lounge seat provides options for entertaining, such as tailgating during the day, and serves as the support platform for the bed’s extension cushions at night. Both models also now come with ability to add extra solar power. The 24GT and 24GL have rooftop-mounted solar panels capable of harvesting 300 watts of power. Two additional solar ports, one on each side, are now standard. Each port can handle 300 watts, allowing the use of portable solar panels to collect up to 600 additional watts of energy. The RVs are equipped with the Coleman Mach 10 NDQ air conditioner, which maintains 13,500 BTU output with lower electricity usage and quieter operation than the previous model. The new air conditioner also has a soft-start capability to reduce the initial electrical load when the unit kicks in.
Interstate 19 Updates
The 19-foot RV seats up to four with sleeping space for up to two. As with the 24GT and 24GL models, two external solar ports come standard now, allowing travelers to add portable solar panels for up to 600 watts of additional solar harvesting capability. The new furnace and hot water system are fueled by diesel instead of propane with the efficient Truma Combi D system, saving propane fuel for cooking. The Interstate 19 has also been upgraded to the soft-starting Coleman Mach 10 NDQ air conditioner for quiet, efficient cooling.
