Meyer’s RV Superstore Increases Footprint With RVUniverse
In the last three years, Meyer’s RV Superstore has nearly tripled its number of dealerships, growing to 13 locations throughout the Northeastern U.S. The new locations have allowed Meyer’s RV to successfully increase its customer base and inventory. “As the Meyer’s brand has grown, we’ve entered major RV markets like Baltimore, Cleveland, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh, as well as several cities in New Jersey,” says Marketing and Business Development Manager Michael Guerrein. “We have over 100 brands from all the top RV manufacturers across our inventory. Our customers benefit from the high-volume buying power, and we are able to provide national pricing on all our inventory.”
Experience The Difference
Meyer’s RV’s “Experience The Difference” motto has come to represent the dealership’s family-like atmosphere, where each sale is guided by the customer’s unique needs. All sales staff participate in comprehensive onboard training, as well as ongoing monthly training to enhance their attention to detail with customers. “A big part of that training is how to make the buying experience more personal for the customer,” says Guerrein. “Obviously, staff start by getting to know a customer’s wants and needs when buying an RV, as this is critical to any sale. But we also train them on how to ask questions—and then—be a good listener.”
By continuing to put the customer first, even as Meyer’s RV has grown into one of the largest family-owned RV dealerships in the U.S., the company is able to make meaningful connections with buyers. “The Meyer’s brand hasn’t changed all that much over the years,” says Guerrein. “We’ve grown for sure, but we continue to do business in ways that stand out from the corporate competition. We want customers for life, that is what the RV business is all about.”
Advertising That Stands Out
Meyer’s RV has been a consistent advertiser in RVUniverse magazine from the very first issue in 2018 and steadily increased its ad size over the years. Meyer’s RV now runs a 4-page ad in the Eastern edition of RVUniverse. “As our company has grown with new locations, the RV inventory has increased,” says Guerrein. “It just makes sense to increase our ad size, and I’m a big believer in maximizing the exposure for our inventory.”
All RVs displayed in the print edition of RVUniverse also receive featured placement online at RVUniverse.com, so Meyer’s RV regularly updates the models shown in print to increase exposure. “The more people see the RVs online and in print, the faster the inventory is going to sell,” says Guerrein, who points out that several of the units in its most recent multipage ad have already sold. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these units were already taken off the market,” he adds.
RVUniverse Introduces More Buyers
RVUniverse offers Meyer’s RV targeted regional exposure for its multiple locations, all of which are listed along the bottom of the print ad. “With 13 dealerships in five states, we see great exposure with the Eastern edition of RVUniverse,” says Guerrein. “Just looking at our most recent sales with the models featured in our 4-page print ad, there are buyers from our primary territories in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, but we’re also seeing sales from New Hampshire, Virginia, and West Virginia.”
RVUniverse’s ability to attract buyers from states like New Hampshire and Virginia, which don’t have a Meyer’s RV dealership but are still nearby, has proven valuable. “Similar to how we’re expanding our footprint with new locations, driving growth these last few years, the new customers we see from RVUniverse are a way to increase our sales.” Featured listings on RVUniverse.com have also helped Meyer’s RV make sales from outside the Northeast. In fact, the company has seen leads from almost every state in the U.S.
Growth Mindset For 2023
For the rest of 2023, Meyer’s RV is focused on increasing its market share in the company’s existing markets, especially in new markets like Albany, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; and Sayre, Pennsylvania. “We’ve already heard from many customers who were excited about us coming to town,” says Guerrein. “After being open just a few months, it’s clear that these new locations are going to be good markets for us—and frankly, they already are.” Meyer’s expectations for RVUniverse are fairly simple, Guerrein says. “Just keep the leads coming in.”
