Keystone RV Company recently released a new how-to video explaining how to troubleshoot issues and error codes related to your RV’s leveling system.

Keystone RV Company offers a series of how-to videos for recreational vehicle owners that prefer a do-it-yourself approach when possible. One of the newest videos, appearing both on the company website and on Keystone’s official YouTube channel, discusses troubleshooting your RV’s leveling system and contending with two of the most common Level-Up errors: “Out of Stroke” and “Low Voltage.” The company also has several other how-to videos available that cover topics like cleaning the rubber roof of your RV, understanding your RV’s electrical system, winterizing your RV, and many others.

Leveling Error Codes

The “out of stroke” error, which sometimes appears as “jack timeout” or “auto-level fail” is an error where the leveling system is having trouble finding solid footing on an uneven surface. Keystone’s first suggestion is to “move the RV to a more level area,” but if that isn’t an option, then it may also be possible to use leveling blocks to find the right balance.

Another common error is “low voltage” or “jack fault,” which Keystone says is often an indication that “your battery is not strong enough to perform the level up action,” but it could also mean that there is an issue with a fuse or the connection. A temporary fix is to use your tow vehicle’s alternator to power the leveling system using an auxiliary cable or other similar connector, but if the issue persists, then you will likely need to replace or repair fuses or other components.

Don’t Force The Issue

Keystone is quick to point out that not all errors lend themselves to a DIY approach, and that it is possible to damage your RV by forcing the leveling system to run on uneven ground. If all of the connections seem to be in working order or you encounter error codes not mentioned in this particular video, then Keystone recommends reaching out to your dealer to address the issue.
