Tiffin’s Allegro Open Road Gets Standard Driver’s Assistance Package, App Control & New Colors For 2022

Tiffin Motorhomes has announced new features and color schemes for the 2022 model year of its venerable Allegro Open Road RV. The manufacturer says the Open Road can provide all the comforts of home with style and affordability.

New For 2022

The Open Road’s Driver’s Assistance Package is a new, standard feature designed to prevent accidents and injuries. The suite of technologies includes adaptive cruise control, radar-based collision mitigation, electronic stability control with roll stability support, and automatic traction control.

For 2022 the Open Road comes in exterior designs called Barcelona, Sunlit Sand, NASA, and White Mahogany. The Class A motorhome also features a new interior slide-out fascia.

Also new is app compatibility for the Open Road’s Spyder Multiplex System. This allows you to use your smartphone or tablet to turn the Open Road’s LED lighting on and off, open and close its slide-outs, and check on levels for the RV’s battery, LP gas supply, and water tanks.

Another new feature conserves water. The Aquaview ShowerMiser system prevents cold water from being wasted down the drain as you wait for the shower to warm up. A color indicator will let you know when warm water reaches the showerhead before you turn it on, so your shower can begin at a comfortable temperature from the start. An optional Truma continuous hot water heater is available. The Open Road’s shower includes both a skylight and an LED light.

Features

The Open Road comes in five floor plans in 34.3- to 38-foot (10.45- to 11.6-meter) lengths. Its handcrafted cabinetry comes in the new gray-brown Shadow color, as well as in Amber Glazed or Natural Alder. Non-slide-out areas have luxury vinyl tile flooring in a matte Sand Castle pattern. The RV’s interior fabric suite color palettes are dubbed “City Shadow III,” “Portico Linen II,” and “Sandbar III.” Ultraleather furniture is available in Belgian or Cocoon.

Other notable features of the Open Road include hydraulic automatic leveling jacks. An Extraordinaire air conditioning system keeps travelers cool on balmy nights. There’s a panoramic kitchen galley window not far from a flat-panel TV, sound bar, and subwoofer in the mid-section of the interior. Another flat-panel TV and sound bar offer outdoor entertainment under the power panel awning.

Mechanical Notes

Tiffin bases the Allegro Open Road on a Ford chassis with a 7.3-litre V8 engine. The motor produces 350 horsepower (261 kilowatts) and 468 pounds-foot (634.5 newton-meters) of torque. It includes an emergency start switch.

The motorhome uses a TorqShift six-speed automatic overdrive transmission with a towing/hauling mode. The RV can pull a 4,000- or 5,000-pound (1,814- to 2,268-kilogram) trailer or vehicle, depending on the model.

A protective film guards the finish on areas of the body such as the front cap. Tiffin outfits the Open Road with attractive aluminum wheels and quality Michelin tires.
