Winnebago Accessibility Enhanced Motorhomes Built On Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation XCS Chassis
Winnebago recently launched a new line of Accessibility Enhanced (AE) motorhomes built on the Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation’s (FCCC) XCS chassis. These RVs, which have better wheelchair access for those with limited mobility, were first launched at the Florida RV Supershow in January of this year.
“We are proud and thrilled to help Winnebago launch their AE line of motorhomes—and to truly help make our industry’s products and lifestyle more accessible to everyone,” says Jeff Sather, president of FCCC. “We share with Winnebago a commitment to making RVing an experience not limited by physical ability, which is why it is gratifying to see the Forza AE fulfill that promise; this model allows more people and families to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle in ease and comfort.”
Forza 34T AE
The Winnebago Forza 34T AE is the largest model in the AE lineup and was recently on display at RVX: The RV Experience 2019, which took place March 12-14 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The model has several features designed for better wheelchair access, including a wheelchair lift that users can control with a key-fob remote. It also has wider hallways and larger toilet areas, a roll-in shower with an assist bar and optional folding bench seat, easily accessible faucet controls, and an adjustable showerhead. Other features include easy-to-reach appliances and switches as well as an option for a power transfer seat.
XC Series Chassis
Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation has been producing the XC series chassis for almost 20 years, and is “the first choice of more luxury motorhome manufacturers than any other chassis,” according to the company. It is well suited to serve as the foundation for Class A diesel motorhomes with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) of up to 47,000 pounds (21,319 kilograms), which allows for flexible floor plans with space to spare.
