Read More (About Heartland)Heartland Recreational Vehicles is a leading RV manufacturer specializing in quality-made travel trailers, fifth wheels, travel trailer toy haulers, and fifth wheel toy haulers. With more than 200 available floor plans, the company creates light, airy trailers with top-tier materials, solid engineering, and an emphasis on convenient features and natural light. Heartland strives to give its customers the best service and RVing experience possible and regularly gathers their feedback to improve its products.
In a crowded field of RV manufacturers, Heartland works to stand out with innovative comfort and convenience features. Its campers offer extra, unobstructed storage space, such as in a drop-frame basement or the front storage in its travel trailers with up to 67.5 cubic feet (1.9 cubic meters). Heartland RVs also include centralized water, waste, and connectivity hookups in the manufacturer’s Universal Docking Center. A more recent addition is an air fryer oven with a 3-burner stove in the galley.
Other Heartland features include:
Trio Airflow A/C System. Designed by RV Airflow Systems, this exclusive air conditioning system evens out cooling throughout the trailer's interior. It does this by eliminating restrictions and managing the airflow, reducing noise levels and energy consumption.
Hidden toy hauler garage. The bedroom can be converted to a 14-foot (4.3-meter) garage by raising the floor to the ceiling at the touch of a button. This feature comes with a full-size ramp door patio and a 3-season garage wall.
Tight turn technology. Heartland’s patented 88-degree turning radius allows a driver to make sharper turns without the nose of the fifth-wheel trailer colliding with the back corner of the tow vehicle’s cab and without the need for a sliding fifth wheel. This feature eliminates much of the risk of pulling a camper with a short-bed pickup and an extended cab.
The Vault. This exclusive Heartland feature centralizes the 12-volt wiring connections. It allows the user to disconnect power from the battery to the RV to prevent “energy vampire” electronic devices from draining the battery. The Vault maintains power to the breakaway switch for safety reasons and allows solar power equipment to recharge connected batteries.
Heartland RV was founded in 2003 in Elkhart, Indiana, by Brian Brady and others in the RV industry. It released its first fifth-wheel camper, the luxurious Landmark, in March 2004, which made waves with its innovative Universal Docking Center and tight turning capability. The company debuted its Cyclone toy hauler in 2006.
In February 2010, Heartland acquired trademarks and assets from Fleetwood Enterprises, including the Prowler and Terry brands. A few months later, in September 2010, Thor Industries acquired the rapidly growing towable recreational vehicle maker, which had more than 1,000 employees at the time and more than $400 million in sales over the previous year.
Heartland launched its first destination trailer in 2012. It expanded its manufacturing footprint from roughly 111,000 square feet (10,300 square meters) in 2006 to a total plant space of 780,000 sq ft (72,450 sq m) in 2014. Soon after, it began to add additional factories in Nampa, Idaho, and nearby Howe and LaGrange, Indiana. In the latter case, Heartland acquired towable RV maker Cruiser RV (CRV) and luxury fifth-wheel manufacturer DRV Luxury Suites in 2015.
Also, in 2015, Heartland opened its in-house service center in Elkhart, which offers hookup sites near its service bays to ensure RV customers can enjoy all necessary amenities before their service appointments the following day. The firm began using lighter, more weather-resistant, and sound-insulating Azdel Onboard composite panels in its trailers in 2017 and soon began implementing them throughout its entire product lineup.
Heartland opened a 73,000-sq ft (6,780-sq m) parts warehouse in 2022 and a 144,000-sq ft (13,380-sq m) assembly plant in November 2023. The latter boasts new technologies to streamline production and reduce scrap waste, including a system that automatically stores, retrieves, and cuts panels to size.
Heartland RV produces travel trailers, fifth wheels, travel trailer toy haulers, and fifth-wheel toy haulers. Some of Heartland’s most popular brands on the new and used RV market include the following, among many others.
You’ll find this and many other new and used Heartland RVs for sale on RVUniverse.com. Prices typically range from less than $10,000 to $150,000 or more.
