Meet Heartland RVs’ New Corterra CT3.0 Fifth-Wheel Camper
Heartland RVs recently unveiled a new mid-tier fifth-wheel trailer, the Corterra, for long-term campers who appreciate the space and comforts of residential living in a mobile package. The company showcased the first Corterra floor plan, the CT3.0, at the Elkhart RV Dealer Open House held in late September in Elkhart, Indiana.
The CT3.0 is 34.8 feet (10.6 meters) in length, sleeps three or four people, and has 353 square feet (32.8 square meters) of floor space including three slide-outs. Several standout features combine with numerous hidden storage spaces to tantalize discerning fifth-wheel RV buyers.
“We’ve leaned into a more minimalist feel with Corterra,” says Jon Gust, general manager for Corterra. “The most important thing has been to perfect the essentials campers rate as the most important while maximizing every square inch of space.”
Heartland RVs says additional Corterra floor plans are on the way with different lengths and slide-out configurations.
Ample Glass For Scenic Vistas
Heartland RVs says it arrived at the Corterra’s name via the Latin words “cor,” for heart, and “terra,” for land. “Corterra’s construction is strong but lightweight and features innovative new elements like the all-glass entry door and the panoramic window in the front cap,” says Gust.
The aerodynamic, new front cap houses storage space as well as a large, curved window in the Corterra’s bedroom. The tinted, all-glass entry door is reachable by solid MORryde steps and an extended grab handle for safety and stability.
“It’s a capable, well-built RV wrapped in a beautiful exterior,” Gust says.
Inside The Corterra
The Corterra’s kitchen and bath include solid-surface countertops. Heartland’s residential appliance package supplies a 22-inch (559-millimeter) traditional oven, a 30-in. (762-mm) over-the-range microwave, and a 16-cubic-foot (453-liter) 12-volt refrigerator along with a 3-burner cooktop.
The kitchen drawers and cabinets are hardware-free, and there’s a lighted wine/coffee bar on the galley wall next to a pantry. Additional storage is hidden behind the nearby entertainment center and fireplace.
The bedroom, located in the front of the camper, comes with a standard residential 76- by 80-in. (1.93- by 2.03 m) king-size bed and a wardrobe on either side of the nose window. The bedroom has a ceiling height of 6.33 ft (1.93 m).
In the living area, the main slide has a 6.5-ft (1.98-m) ceiling height. Heartland lights the trailer throughout with flat, dimmable batten strips instead of puck lights. The bathroom boasts a 1-piece shower surround and a lighted mirror. The Corterra has 98 gallons (371 liters) of freshwater capacity.
Corterra Specs & Structure
The Corterra handles climate control with a 35,000-BTU furnace and two 15,000-BTU air conditioners. The trailer’s underbelly is heated and enclosed for comfort underfoot. A SOL 190 solar energy package comes standard, as do washer and dryer hookups off the central bathroom. Outside, a 16-ft (4.9-m) adjustable power awning provides shelter and LED lighting.
Heartland builds the Corterra with a solid but lightweight I-beam frame with 2-in. (51-mm) crush tubes and 7,000-lb (3,175-kg) Dexter axles. Its gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 12,500 pounds (5,670 kilograms). The trailer’s Goodyear tires use a built-in tire pressure monitoring system to alert the owner when tires run low or flat.
Azdel onboard composite sidewalls with aluminum framing provide a durable, insulated structure. The coach has a dry weight of 10,719 lbs (4,862 kg) and a hitch weight of 2,373 lbs (1,076 kg).
The axle supplier for the Corterra also gives the coach Dexter Tow Assist safety technologies by Bosch. The suite of features includes anti-lock braking, trailer sway mitigation, and a towable odometer for trailer mileage tracking.
