Coachmen History

2024 Coachmen Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS
Coachmen was found in 1964 by three brothers, Tom, Keith, and Claude Corson. The company manufactured its first RV products in a 5,000-square-foot facility. In its first year of production, Coachmen produced 12 travel trailers, a single truck camper, and 80 truck caps (or pickup truck toppers).
As of 2024, Coachmen’s primary facilities cover approximately 220 acres, with over 23 acres under roof. The company also operates a 90-acre manufacturing facility in Centerville, Michigan, which is responsible for building camping trailers. After five decades, Coachmen had built and sold more than 600,000 recreational vehicles. Forest River, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, acquired Coachmen in 2008.
Coachmen RV Styles
Coachmen travel trailers are the company’s most popular category, with several model groups to choose from, including the Catalina Legacy Edition and Apex Ultra Lite. These are designed for everything from weekend use to long-term travel, and the range of options accommodates most budgets. The Apex Ultra Lites’ lightweight features and the Catalina Legacy Edition’s competitive pricing make them highly sought-after model lines.
Coachmen brands include all types of motorhomes: Class A, Class B, Class B+, and Class C. Coachmen manufactures over a dozen motorhome brands in gas and diesel models. Two popular brands, the Leprechaun Class C motorhome and the Mirada Class A gas motorhome, feature backup cameras, night shades, regularly upgraded flooring and furniture, and several floorplan options to suit the tastes of RV buyers looking for a home away from home.
Coachmen also makes toy haulers, fifth wheels, park models, and pop-up campers. Each of these RV styles comes in a variety of models, all of which have all the practical features RV buyers expect, and some of which have luxury amenities like fireplaces and skylights.
