Thor Industries is a leading manufacturer of motorhomes in North America, producing one out of four motorhomes sold each year. Based in Elkhart, Indiana, Thor Motor Coach is a subsidiary of Thor Industries, primarily manufacturing Class A diesel, Class A gas, Class B, Class C, and Class Super C motorhomes.
Wade Thompson and Peter Orthwein founded Thor Industries in 1980 after purchasing Airstream. Thor went public in 1984 and has since grown tremendously, acquiring Dutchmen, Jayco, Keystone, Tiffin, and other RV manufacturers.
Two companies previously acquired by Thor Industries, Damon Motor Coach and Four Winds International, merged in 2010 to become Thor Motor Coach. From the beginning, the new company strived to offer a variety of RV styles, sizes, and unique floorplans at competitive prices to meet the needs of first-time travelers and seasoned RV fulltimers alike.
A major selling point for Thor Motor Coach RVs is the large number of floorplans and style available. Thor built gas Class A motorhomes like the Windsport and Hurricane with families in mind, including options for king beds and bunk beds, three-burner cooktops, and amenities to complement full-time life on the road.
Thor Motor Coach offers Class C motorhomes with two chassis options: a regular chassis (such as a Chevrolet, Ford, or Ram) or a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The smaller yet functional size of these RVs, paired with the luxury of a Mercedes-Benz, offers comfortable space for weekend getaways with loved ones. Built on the Sprinter van chassis, models like the Citation Sprinter and Delano Sprinter feature a modern dashboard design and a tankless hot water heater, providing a comfortable driving experience.
Like Thor’s Class C motorhomes, Class B models are also available with regular and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis options.
