    About Class B Motorhomes

Class B motorhomes, which are also commonly referred to as “camper vans,” “travel vans,” or “sleeper vans,” are the smallest offerings in the motorhome category. They are built on a van chassis and somewhat resemble shuttle buses. These vans often only have enough room for a maximum of four people to sleep.

    2025 Winnebago Ekko 22A Class B Motorhome

Where these motorhomes really shine is when it comes to price, as new models will start around $50,000, and you can find used Class B motorhomes for sale starting at $20,000 or less, depending on size, model year, and mileage. They are available in gas or diesel models and are more efficient than Class A and Class C alternatives, which means you can get a bit farther down the road on a tank of fuel. They’re also much lighter and don’t require any special licensing, as is the case with Class A models in some states.

    Class B Motorhome Amenities

Because Class B motorhomes are quite compact (only getting up to around 24 feet/7.3 meters long), they don’t leave a ton of room for creature comforts but manage to pack in the necessities. While the Class B+ models offer a little more space, what you will get in a Class B is a basic kitchen setup (often a stovetop, microwave, and/or mini refrigerator), a small dining space, couches or other furniture that convert into beds, and a small bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Some models offer additional storage or a pop-up bunk in the roof or a hitch to pull a trailer. Class B motorhomes are great for quick trips, dry camping without the hookups you’d typically find at a campsite, or for situations where you plan to spend most of your time outdoors. They are good options for couples or for RV beginners.

Winnebago’s Ekko 22A is a popular Class B motorhome model. The camper van is built on a Ford Transit chassis and sleeps up to four people. Three solar panels that provide 455 watts, a second alternator that charges batteries when driving, the standard lithium-ion batteries, and a 50-gallon (190-liter) freshwater tank enable off-grid camping. The van has dual-pane acrylic windows, tanks and water lines that are inside above the floor, and a roof, walls, and floor with all-season insulation to extend the camping season.
