Description
2001 Fleetwood American Eagle 40' Diesel Pusher
Cummins ISC 8.3L 350 HP • Allison 3000MH 6-Speed • Spartan Mountain Master GT • Clean Title • Full-Body Paint
This 2001 Fleetwood American Eagle is an exceptionally clean example of one of American Coach's high-end diesel pushers from this era.
The American Eagle was built to a considerably higher standard than many conventional Class A motorhomes of the period, with a heavy-duty diesel drivetrain, Spartan chassis, air suspension, high-quality cabinetry, upgraded interior materials, and full-body paint.
It is powered by the Cummins ISC 8.3L turbocharged diesel engine, rated at 350 horsepower and approximately 1,050 lb-ft of torque, paired with the Allison 3000MH 6-speed automatic transmission.
Underneath is the Spartan Mountain Master GT stacked-rail chassis with independent front suspension, full air brakes, air-ride suspension, and PacBrake exhaust braking.
This is a 40-foot coach built on a 266-inch wheelbase with a factory GVWR of 33,200 pounds and GCWR of 43,200 pounds.
It also has a clean title.
SALE / AUCTION PROCESS
We are Reliable Rides Utah, an RV dealership based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
We acquire RVs throughout the United States from a variety of sources, including insurance, dealer, wholesale, and liquidation channels.
Rather than fully retail-reconditioning every unit we purchase, we occasionally offer solid units like this one directly to the public at a reduced pre-auction price or through AuctionTime.
Our process with this motorhome is simple:
It is first being offered for sale on RVUniverse for a limited period of time.
If someone purchases it before the scheduled auction date, it is theirs and it will not proceed to auction.
If it is not purchased beforehand, it will move to AuctionTime and be sold in a true NO-RESERVE auction.
The AuctionTime bidding will start at just $250.
There is no reserve and no hidden minimum selling price. The highest bidder when the auction closes will win the motorhome, regardless of the final bid amount.
Depending on where you are reading this listing:
If you are viewing it on RVUniverse:
The motorhome is still available to purchase before it goes to auction.
If you are viewing it on AuctionTime:
The pre-auction purchase opportunity has passed and the motorhome is now being sold to the highest bidder with no reserve.
We regularly use AuctionTime for select RVs and other inventory.

The Cummins ISC and Allison 3000 combination is one of the major strengths of this generation of American Eagle and was a proven heavy-duty diesel-pusher drivetrain.
EXTERIOR CONDITION
The exterior is in excellent condition considering the age of the coach.
It is finished in full-body paint rather than large vinyl graphics, and the paint still has a very clean, glossy appearance.
We did not observe the widespread peeling or clear-coat failure commonly seen on many older full-body-painted diesel pushers.
The fiberglass body panels also present very well.
The roof is in very good overall condition and appears to have been well maintained.
For a 2001 motorhome, the overall exterior presentation is one of the strongest aspects of this coach.
INTERIOR CONDITION
The interior is in absolutely fantastic condition for the year.
Both couches remain in very good shape with minimal signs of wear.
The driver and passenger captain's chairs are also exceptionally well preserved.
The cabinetry and woodwork throughout the coach are another major highlight. The wood still has a rich, consistent stain and finish with very little noticeable wear.
American Eagle used substantially more real wood and higher-quality cabinetry than what is found in many lower-priced motorhomes from this era, and that difference is still apparent in this coach today.
The tile flooring remains in very good condition, and the carpeting shows surprisingly little wear considering the age of the motorhome.
Overall, the interior simply does not look like what most people expect to find inside a 2001 motorhome.
GENERATOR / EQUIPMENT
The coach is equipped with an Onan Quiet Diesel generator that starts and runs well.
The American Eagle was very well equipped from the factory, including features such as 50-amp electrical service, hydraulic leveling, dual roof air conditioners, dual furnaces, dual-pane windows, Corian surfaces, porcelain tile flooring, solid raised-panel wood cabinetry, a cedar-lined wardrobe, and a one-piece domed fiberglass roof.
The coach was also constructed using steel-reinforced Vacubond sidewalls, roof, and floor construction with heated water and holding-tank compartments.
CUSTOM REAR BUNK / BEDROOM CONVERSION
A previous owner modified the rear bedroom to increase the sleeping capacity of the coach.
Custom bunk beds were installed at the rear.
The bunk sleeping surfaces are approximately 7 inches longer than the width of a standard queen mattress. Since a queen mattress is approximately 60 inches wide, the bunks are roughly 67 inches long.
They are not full-length conventional adult beds, but they provide a substantial amount of additional sleeping space and could work especially well for children, teenagers, shorter adults, or additional family members.
The previous owner appears to have taken care to match the woodwork of the bunks to the existing American Eagle cabinetry, so the conversion fits the interior considerably better than a basic homemade bunk installation.
They also constructed a custom two-piece main bed platform designed around the bedroom slide.
One portion of the platform moves with the slide while the lower section remains stationary. Once the slide is extended, the configuration provides enough room for a California queen mattress.
For a family looking for an older high-end diesel pusher with additional sleeping capacity, this is a very unusual and potentially useful setup.
The conversion is not factory-original and could also be removed or modified by a future owner who prefers a more traditional rear-bedroom configuration.
MECHANICAL CONDITION / KNOWN ITEMS
Once running, the Cummins engine idles well and appears to have good power.
The motorhome has been sitting for several months without being connected to a battery tender, and both the chassis batteries and house batteries are now due for replacement.
Our person on the ground initially had difficulty getting the motorhome going while attempting to use a booster. He has limited experience with large diesel motorhomes and appeared to be having difficulty connecting or using the booster correctly.
Another person at the location happened to have a booster available and was able to get the motorhome running successfully.
Once running, the Cummins idled well.
The tires also need replacement.
Those are the primary mechanical items we are aware of at this time.
WHY THIS COACH IS INTERESTING
There is a major difference between buying an inexpensive older Class A and buying an older coach that was originally built to a much higher standard.
The American Eagle falls into the second category.
This coach combines a clean title, 350 HP Cummins ISC diesel, Allison 3000MH 6-speed transmission, Spartan Mountain Master GT chassis, independent front suspension, full air suspension, full air brakes, full-body paint, and the construction quality associated with American Coach.
More importantly, this particular coach has survived the past two decades extremely well cosmetically.
The exterior paint remains exceptionally presentable.
The roof is in very good condition.
The couches and captain's chairs show minimal wear.
The cabinetry and woodwork have retained their finish extremely well.
The tile and carpeting remain in unusually good condition for a coach of this age.
The custom rear bedroom configuration also gives the coach additional sleeping capacity that is difficult to find in an older high-end diesel pusher.
OVERALL
This is not being represented as a fully reconditioned or completely turn-key motorhome.
What it is, however, is an unusually clean 2001 American Eagle with a clean title, excellent cosmetic presentation, full-body paint, a very good roof, an exceptionally well-preserved interior, and one of the more desirable diesel-pusher drivetrain combinations from this era.
The Cummins ISC 8.3L, Allison 3000MH transmission, Spartan Mountain Master GT chassis, independent front suspension, air suspension, and full air brakes give this coach the underlying mechanical platform expected from a high-end American Coach product.
The custom rear bunk and California-queen bedroom arrangement also gives it considerably more sleeping capacity than a conventional American Eagle layout.
It needs tires, chassis batteries, and house batteries.
For someone willing to address those items, there is a tremendous amount of high-end diesel motorhome here, and the condition of the paint, cabinetry, furniture, flooring, and overall interior is extremely difficult to find in a coach of this age.
