Winnebago’s New Roam 59RB Camper Van Makes Camping Accessible For All
The new Winnebago Roam 58RB camper van makes traveling in comfort accessible for everyone with an open floor plan, an under-vehicle wheelchair lift, and wheelchair tie-downs. The Class B motorhome packs a lot of features in a small space with room to sleep two people plus a bathroom with a shower and cassette toilet and a galley with a 3-cubic-foot (85-liter) 12-volt compressor-driven refrigerator-freezer, a stainless steel sink, a microwave, and an outlet for an induction cooktop.
The Roam 59RB is powered by a 280-horsepower (208-kilowatt) 3.6-L V6 engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It has a 3,500-pound (1,587-kilogram) trailer hitch and 350-lb (158-kg) drawbar.
Built For Access
In addition to the motorhome’s wheelchair lift, an assist bar near the exterior door, and wheelchair tie-downs, the Roam 59RB has a shoulder belt near the tie-downs and lowered countertops, cabinets, and controls for in-reach use. The wet bath has a swivel cassette toilet, a shower with wall surround, an assist bar, and a flexible showerhead.
Travel In Comfort
The Roam has a roof-mounted air conditioning unit to keep travelers cool while parked. The powered reclining sofa bed sleeps two people and the optional pop-top with Froli sleep system also sleeps two to bump the van’s sleep occupancy up to four.
The flip-up dinette table has an extending leaf for plenty of space for meals or work, and the cab seats have armrests, adjustable lumbar support, and adjustable headrests. They can also slide, swivel, and recline to become part of the living space.
