Winnebago Ekko Provides Class C Amenities With Ease & Efficiency Of Camper Van
Winnebago’s Ekko offers supreme flexibility for campers. The all-wheel drive RV has the features and amenities typical of a Class C motorhome with the smaller footprint of a Class B camper van and is designed for year-round camping.
The Winnebago Ekko
Introduced in 2021, the Ekko is modeled on the ultra-compact Class C RVs that are dominant in Europe. The all-wheel-drive Ford Transit chassis drives like a camper van, but the Ekko’s unique design allows it to include the features of a typical Class C. The Ekko has seating and sleeping space for up to four people with child seat tether anchors.
Home On The Road
The bedroom has a Flex Bed system with two twin beds with the WinnSleep system that can be converted into a king-size bed. The WinnSleep system combines a 2-layer high-density hygienic foam mattress with a European suspension system to improve air circulation and comfort. Wardrobe and drawer storage are provided under the beds; a metal clothes rod, reading lights, charging ports, outlets, and a room divider curtain round out the list of bedroom features.
Additional sleeping space can be added with the optional pop-top with the Froli sleep system and/or a front cab air mattress.
The galley features energy-efficient appliances, including a microwave, a 2-burner LP range cooktop with a cover, and a 5.3 cubic-foot 12-volt compressor-driven refrigerator/freezer. There is also a pantry, a stainless steel sink with a cover that can be used as additional counter space or a cutting board, laminate countertops, and an adjustable table that doubles as a counter extension.
When it’s time to eat, the driver and passenger seats swivel to face the two dinette seats, and two side tables pull up to provide a space for the food.
The bathroom holds the biggest surprise. The dry/wet bath has a medicine cabinet, sink, swiveling cassette toilet, and a pivoting wall that turns the lavatory into a 24- by 30-inch (61- by 76-centimeter) shower with a wall surround.
Outdoor Living
No one camps to spend all their time inside the RV. The Ekko has a power awning with LED lighting and a heated gear garage. Optional equipment includes a batwing awning, luggage rack, and an exterior kitchen with a chest-style refrigerator/freezer, a 2-burner LP cooktop, a flip-up counter extension, a quick-connect faucet, and a collapsible sink.
Go Off Grid
Three solar panels provide 455 watts of energy while a second alternator is dedicated to charging the batteries while driving. The RV also has standard lithium-ion batteries for additional power. A 50-gallon (189-liter) freshwater tank and proportionate waste tanks enable longer stays away from hookups.
Go All Year
All tanks and water lines are inside the coach above the floor and the RV has all-season insulation in the roof, walls, and floor and dual-pane acrylic windows to allow camping even in cold weather. The Ekko also has multiple insulated exterior compartments.
