Airstream’s All-New Interstate 19X Touring Coach Class B Motorhome Is Built For Off-Road Adventures

Airstream recently announced the addition of the all-new, 19-foot (5.8-meter) Interstate 19X to its Touring Coach lineup of luxury Class B motorhomes. The RV manufacturer builds the 19X on a durable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 4x4 van chassis and outfits it with scads of amenities for comfortable transportation on and off paved roads. For even greater off-road capabilities, buyers can opt for the available all-wheel-drive option.

19X Vital Details

The 19X joins the 19 and 19SE models in the Touring Coach range, which also includes Airstream’s 24-ft (7.3-m) 24X, 24GL, and 24GT models. Inside, the 19X measures 6.2 ft high by 5.8 ft wide (1.9 m by 1.8 m) and can seat and sleep up to four and two passengers, respectively. The van’s 3-liter Mercedes-Benz V6 turbo-diesel engine is rated for 188 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 325 pounds-foot (440 newton-meters) of torque. The 19X has a 5,000-pound (2,268-kilogram) towing capacity.

Rugged Construction

Purpose-built for outdoor and off-road enthusiasts, the 19X rolls on all-terrain tires wrapped around black aluminum wheels. The hood, front and rear bumpers, and lower side moldings have a protective body coating. At the vehicle’s front end is a brush guard with adjustable LED lights, and on the roof are military-grade solar panels that are part of a 250-watt solar system. Protective features inside the van include waterproof and stain- and scratch-resistant gray flooring.

Airstream includes Load Adaptive Electronic Stability and Electronic Traction systems to assist the driver when facing challenging road conditions, and there’s an onboard generator for off-grid power needs. Buyers can upgrade to Airstream’s E1 Package to add a single-fuel-source system that can draw fuel from the van’s 24.5-gallon (92.7-liter) diesel fuel tank to power the water heater, furnace, and generator, allowing them to leave LP hassles behind. The package also includes a 12,000-watt-hour battery pack and a 3,200-watt power inverter, so you can power multiple devices simultaneously when you’re off the grid.

Smart Storage

The 19X supplies efficient storage in the form of an L-track system integrated into the rear floors, walls, and ceiling. The system features movable tie-down points to make it easy to securely stow camping gear, bikes, and other larger gear during transport. Securely storing smaller items is also easy thanks to soft-close and positive-locking components for the drawers and cabinets.

Comfort & Luxury

After a day spent outdoors, travelers can look forward to freshening up in the 19X’s wet bath with a shower, complete with hot water from the Truma Combi heating and hot water system. For prepping and cooking meals, there’s a galley with solid-surface countertops, a stow-away 1,000-watt induction cooktop, a microwave, and a refrigerator and freezer. Campers can convert the living and dining area for sleeping, with either queen or twin bed options available.
