Ember RV Debuts Twin-Axle Overland 201FBQ & 221MDB Travel Trailers With Walk-Around Queen Beds
Ember RV has entered new territory with a pair of new Overland travel trailer floor plans. The 201FBQ and 221MDB are roomier models with tandem axles and walk-around, queen-size beds. Ember says both features are in response to customer requests.
Each wheel of the new trailers features a CURT independent suspension with heavy-duty coil springs and dual shock absorbers—an industry first, according to Ember. The two models also feature the Overland line’s strong, tube steel frame for off-road durability. Both have a 55-gallon (208-liter) fresh water capacity and the EmberLink Smart RV control system.
The Overland 201FBQ
The 201FBQ is a “couple’s” floor plan with sleeping accommodations for two to four individuals. It’s a longer, wider edition of Ember’s Overland 171FB with a 24.1-foot (7.3-meter) overall length and an 8-ft (2.4-m) exterior width. The trailer has a dry weight of 5,255 pounds (2,384 kilograms), a hitch weight of 605 lbs (274 kg), and a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,575 lbs (2,982 kg).
The residential-size queen bed measures 60 by 80 inches (1,524 by 2,032 millimeters) and has walking space on three sides. This arrangement makes it easier for both occupants to get into bed at night and simplifies making the bed in the morning. A Stargazer skylight above the mattress provides a nighttime view that you just won’t find under city lights.
Ember added storage space here and there, enlarged the 12-volt refrigerator to 10 cubic feet (0.28 cubic meter), and extended the awning from 12 to 16 ft (3.7 to 4.9 m) wide.
The Overland 221MDB
The 221MDB is the largest model in Ember’s current product line. It is a bunkhouse floor plan that sleeps five to eight people. The camper is 26.1 ft (8 m) long overall and 8 ft in width, and is derived from Ember’s 191MDB. It has a dry weight of 5,690 lbs (2,581 kg), a GVWR of 6,995 lbs (3,173 kg), and a hitch weight of 620 lbs (281 kg).
The 221MDB’s walk-around queen bed is a Murphy bed, which converts into a sofa as needed. On the opposite end of the coach are double-over-double bunks rated for 600 lbs (272 kg) each, sleeping up to four people.
Both storage and countertop space benefit from the 221MDB’s larger dimensions. So does the 18-ft (5.5-m) awning above the exterior kitchen, which comes standard.
