Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB Office & Globetrotter 30RB Travel Trailers Win 2021 Red Dot Product Design Awards

Airstream has received two 2021 Red Dot Product Design awards for not one, but two of its “silver bullet” travel trailers: the all-new Flying Cloud 30FB Office model and the Globetrotter 30RB. The Red Dot Design awards celebrate innovative design concepts in products across numerous categories. Both winners are 30-foot (9.1-meter) trailers built on tandem axles that sleep six people. Airstream President and CEO Bob Wheeler says the trailers reflect that while the way people travel is changing, their desire to see the world remains.

“In a time of concern about common modes of vacation travel, and with more people discovering the viability of taking their jobs on the road, Airstream has delivered two more best-in-class products to help people follow their dreams,” he says.

Work & Play

Airstream’s trailers were among thousands of entries up for Red Dot awards. The Flying Cloud 30FB Office is available in Sunlit Maple with Carolina Clay and Seattle Mist interiors. Both feature a dedicated corner office space with desk, multiple USB ports and a pop-up USB/AC outlet, sliding drawers, and storage cubbies. Designed for entrepreneurs, nomadic workers, and others looking to mix work and play, the office also includes overhead storage cabinets with a dry-erase surfaces, a chair mat, and a swivel chair with strap to secure it when traveling. The office space also converts to a one-person sleeping area.

The “RB” in Globetrotter 30RB stands for “rear bedroom,” which is available with either a twin or queen bed. Airstream says the trailer’s “open, linear spaces emphasize ease of access and movement to make entertaining, cooking, relaxing, and working more enjoyable.” The Globetrotter dates to the 1950s and is available in seven additional floor plans that range from 23 ft (7 m) to 30 ft. In addition to 22 windows and skylights, it provides such features as a convertible dinette, climate control air conditioning, a solar panel package, and a modern kitchen.
