Thor Motor Coach 2020 Axis RUV Motorhome Highlights
Not long ago, Thor Motor Coach revealed its long list of upgrades for its 2020 lineup of Class A and Class C motorhomes and toy haulers. Notably, each will come standard with the Winegard ConnecT 2.0 4G LTE router and Wi-Fi extender, which provides high-bandwidth connectivity wherever you roam.
One of the models Thor has enhanced is the Axis RUV (recreational utility vehicle), which is a Class A Gas motorhome. The highlight of its 2020 incarnation is a BMPro Multiplex RV lighting and systems control. Using a tablet, a remote, or a smartphone, you’ll be able to control your motorhome’s lighting, slide-outs, awnings, HVAC, and generators, as well as monitor its water tanks, temperature, battery, and fuel. The Multiplex comes standard on all three floorplans.
Your New Second Home
The Axis comes in 24.1, 25.6, and 27.7 floor plans, ranging 25.5 to 28.5 feet (7.8 to 8.7 meters) in length. The two color palettes for the interior décor are called Harbor Shores II and Seaglass, while the cabinetry options available are named Silver Oak and Beechwood.
Underfoot is residential vinyl flooring, while up above, the 82-inch- (2.1-meter-) high ceiling hosts LED lighting for energy-saving longevity. The Axis comes with either a leatherette Dream Dinette booth (25.6 and 27.7) or a tri-fold sofa and removable pedestal table with cup holders (24.1).
Bed options include a flip-up queen size, twin beds with a king size conversion, and a sofa bed, depending on the floor plan. There’s also a shower with a skylight, stainless-steel inserts on the refrigerator, a convection microwave, and a stainless single-bowl kitchen sink.
About The Axis
Thor builds the Axis on a Ford E-450 chassis. Its 6.8-liter Triton V10 engine generates 305 horsepower (227 kilowatts) and 420 pounds foot (569 newton meters) of torque running on gasoline.
The driver’s seat has a power option, but a power windshield privacy shade and a touchscreen dash radio with navigation and SiriusXM come standard. The side mirrors are heated and remote-controlled with side-view cameras.
Outside, the Axis boasts lighted rotocast storage compartments, a 32-inch TV with a Bluetooth sound bar, a lateral power patio awning with integrated LED lighting, slide-out room topper awnings, and an electric stabilizing system (optional on the 24.1). The motorhomes’ two HD-Max exterior graphics options are the stylish Sanibel and Santa Rosa.
