RVUniverse Finds New Home For 2016 Newmar Toy Hauler In Only 2 Weeks
A toy hauler motorhome gives RVers an enclosed rear garage for their golf cart, ATV, or, in this case, his-and-hers motorcycles. And if they don’t feel like bringing along any “toys” on a particular trip, the rear garage can provide extra living space, a bunk or storage loft, and occasionally a patio on the rear door/ramp.
In Hobe Sound, Florida, the owner of a 2016 Newmar Canyon Star turned to RVUniverse to sell his gas-powered, 40-foot (12.2-meter) toy hauler. “It was a great experience,” he says, after the new owner drove it away.
Loaded With Options
This Canyon Star model had a 3921 floor plan with a 95.5- by 120-inch (2,425- by 3,048-millimeter) garage, two slide-outs, and a queen bed in the rear bedroom. At 10 years old, the RV had accumulated only 26,000 miles (41,843 kilometers) and was equipped with new tires and batteries.
The Newmar also had a long list of cool features, with custom millwork on a door and more than $150,000 in optional equipment, according to the former owner. Besides beds for eight people, the motorhome had engine upgrades by Banks Power and 5 Star Tuning for a combined gain of 100 horsepower.
Reaching The Right Audience
To market the 2016 Newmar to the greatest number of potential buyers, the owner advertised in both the Eastern and Western print editions of RVUniverse magazine. This gave the RV’s photo listing nationwide exposure and a well-positioned featured listing online at RVUniverse.com. The seller took the Instant Featured Listing option to start attracting online attention straight away.
Over the next two weeks, the RV owner received 25 phone calls and four email leads. He knew his best chance of selling the toy hauler was to be responsive to all inquiries, even the low-quality ones.
His efforts paid off with a sale to a buyer in North Dakota, after a bit of haggling on the asking price. With negotiations concluded, the buyer flew down to Florida to pick up the RV.
“It was just a matter of finding the right buyer, and it worked!” said the former owner. “They’re very happy.”
