2016 Thor Palazzo Sells In Less Than 2 Months Through Private Seller’s RVUniverse Editorial Ad
Larry Jamison enjoyed putting 26,000 miles on his 2016 Palazzo 33.3, a Class A diesel motorhome from Thor Motor Coach. He speaks of the hunting excursions he undertook with the smart-looking, 34-foot diesel pusher over the years, and all the new replacement parts he’s put back into it. But as life grew busier, his old hunting grounds either changed hands or closed down.
“I just don’t have time to use the motorhome anymore,” he says, noting that his business in Redondo Beach, California, receives more than 100 calls a week. “I decided to sell the motorhome. If I need one, I’ll go rent one for a week or two, but that’s about it.”
Editorial Ads Deliver Results
As a private seller, Jamison reached out to RVUniverse and connected with sales rep Cody Heidenreich, who advised him on his advertising options. To give the 2016 Thor Palazzo its best chance at a quick sale, Jamison started out with a full-page editorial ad in the weekly RVUniverse magazine in late January 2025.
An editorial ad gives a unit extra space for photos and feature lists, both of which benefit RV sellers immensely. Online, the premium listing that comes with an editorial ad rockets to the top of the page when buyers on RVUniverse.com search for similar units.
“It got a good amount of views and a couple of people interested, so we ran it for another month in a half-page editorial,” says Heidenreich.
Reaching Serious Buyers
Around the end of February, a potential buyer in Nevada discovered Jamison’s motorhome through RVUniverse and made contact with him via email. They ended up communicating almost every day for more than a week.
“What the poor guy was looking for was exactly what I owned, but he’d been to see several and they were in very poor shape,” says Jamison. “I gave him a lot of pictures of exactly what I had done: new tires, battery, the paint, the upholstery. I only had 26,000 (miles) on the deal. It had three TVs, and two slides. I mean, it had everything. It would sleep 10 people. Very nice, nice motorhome.”
Before long, the buyer from Nevada pulled the trigger and bought the RV. “I had it listed for $89,900, I sold it for $87,500,” says Jamison. “I think the guy’s enjoying it. He’s up in Reno. He flew down to L.A. and drove it home, so that was very good.”
Hard Numbers Prove An Editorial Ad’s ROI
Altogether, Jamison’s premium listing on RVUniverse.com drew nine click-to-calls, nearly 128,000 screen impressions, and more than 6,660 detail page views. As sales rep Heidenreich had predicted, an editorial ad is one of the most effective ways to sell with RVUniverse.
“He’s done a good job,” Jamison said. “A very professional guy.”
